At Keystone, we only produce American-Made tools that our customers can trust. And our Drill Pipe Rotary Slips are no exception.
Keep reading to see what Drill Pipe Slips we have to offer and what makes them the best oilfield tools on the market.
Drill Pipe Rotary Slips is a device used to grip and hold the upper part of a drill string to the drill floor on an oil rig. The slips are constructed as a collection of metal wedges, hinged together to form a circular shape around the drill pipe. On the inside surface, the slips normally has replaceable steel teeth that grips the pipe. The outsides of the slips are tapered and meets a similar taper on the drill floor. Usually the pipe goes through a Rotary table - machinery that makes the pipe rotate.
After the slips is placed around the drill pipe, it is lowered so that the teeth on the inside grip the pipe and the slips are pulled down. The wedges then holds the drill pipe by the compressive force.
After work is completed, the drill string is raised, thereby unlocking the gripping action. The slips are then lifted away.
Our drill pipe slips are manufactured from heat-treated alloy steel, increasing strength and resistance to wear.
They are also machined by strict quality control procedures, for use in API standard bowls.
All Keystone slips have an API taper of 4″/ft on the diameter, are load rated, and equipped with safety flex handles.
Our slips are designed and precision-machined to meet and exceed API Standards, with the API monogram stamped on our equipment, you can be sure you are getting high-grade equipment at a competitive price, made in the USA.
Keystone Energy offers the following Drill Pipe Slips:
The KET “DU” Rotary Slips are designed for long trouble-free service.
They are made of alloy steel and heat-treated for strength and resistance to wear. The slips are machined for use in API tapered bowls.
The “DU” Regular has a 12” long gripping surface and is designed for wells 8000’ or less. The “DU” Long has a 16” long gripping surface and is designed for deeper wells and heavier drill strings.
All KET “DU” Slips have an API taper of 4”/ft on the diameter
All KET “SDML” and “SDXL” Slips are made of alloy steel and heat-treated for strength and long life. These slips are then machined for use in API standard bowls.
We have designed our slip to operate with no load ring and still maintain 100% insert support, eliminating the need for beveled inserts, this also allows for a complete inspection of the slip without fighting seized or breaking load ring bolts.
Another time saving change is the use of roll pins for retaining the hinge pins and a larger knock out hole beneath the hinge pins. All KET “SD” Slips have an API taper of 4”/ft on the diameter.
Lastly, we have added SLD spring grooves, which allow our slip to easily be retrofitted for the Keystone Energy Tools SLD.
The KET Type “B” Rotary Slip is designed for light to medium well drilling operations.
They are made of alloy steel and heat-treated for strength and resistance to wear. Its standard size ranges from 2 1/16” to 4 1/2” and is used in API tapered bowls.
KET “Type B” Slips have an API taper of 4”/ft on the diameter.
KET is a leading provider of drill pipe slips for the oil and gas drilling Industry. These slips are standard equipment for running tubulars such as drill pipe, drill collar, and casing.
The slips are machined, by strict quality control procedures, for use in API standard bowls
